Accumulation: Rising Star AMZ Talks Her New Album

A local Teesside singer is creating a buzz in the local music scene, with her debut album Accumulation.


AMZ, a 23-year-old singer from Teesside, has created a fantastic album, that took 3 years to write and record, in a personal journey of self discovery.


The album highlights her talent, by blending a range of genres, such as blending indie, alternative, drum and bass, R&B and more.


The album is an 'accumulation' of singles written over the years which dive into a range of hard-hitting topics, including the emotional toll of relationships, self-discovery and finding her inner strength.


AMZ said: "The meaning behind the songs is going through different struggles of relationships and finding happiness in yourself.


“For example, the song ‘headlights’ is about letting go and being free whereas ‘psycho’ is about being in the chaos and becoming it.


She added: “They reflect a woman’s perspective in a relationship and how we need personal power to grow and be strong. The songs on the album are all my perspective from being in relationships that taught me different lessons in life about myself.


AMZ and Her Middlesbrough Roots


AMZ has roots in Middlesbrough, with these roots playing a big role in her music production.


She is a member of local collective UpTeesTelly, who showcase local talent, showing how even with the struggles of growing up in poverty, you can still achieve your dreams.


She said: ”I’m in a group called UpTeesTelly which is a group of different local artist and producers from Middlesbrough, we want to show the talent around this area and show the struggles of growing up in poverty but still achieving your dreams.


 “The music scene in Middlesbrough is fantastic however there has been a real struggle lately due to music venues closing down, we strive to show the talent in Middlesbrough and try get more music to break through out of Middlesbrough.


 “UpTeesTelly has been what has pushed me to work hard and has brought out my confidence as an artist, doing events and gigs with other local talents has inspired me to keep going, regardless of background.


AMZ and Her Future


AMZ is currently looking to create a new album and bring new ideas to life, such as creating a short film with her music.


She said: “I am most excited about my next album I will be working on as I am wanting to make a short film where each song is a different part of the story.


“People can expect to see new music and new initiative ideas; my next album will be in the works. I am wanting to continue with my music journey and hope to grow my audiences more.


AMZ is certainly well on her way to leaving an impression on the music industry with her clear talent.
